CoEd Varsity Winter Track at TSTCA Championship Meet at Edinboro University

Game Date: Feb 16, 2019

The Indiana Indoor track and field team participated Saturday, February 16 at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association Championship Meet at Edinboro University and had a stellar day.

The boys meet came down to the mile relay in order to determine the team championship for the meet. The Indiana boys team of Iago Jopia, Joey Bujdos, Matt Berzonsky, and Kendall Branan managed to set a new school record in edging out Butler at the finish line to win the race with a time of 3:31.45. With that win the Indiana boys won the team title with a total of 44 points narrowly besting Butler’s total of 43 points.

In addition to the win in the 4x400, the team also finished 1st in the 4x800 and the 800. Jopia, Branan, Berzonsky, and Bujdos cruised to the victory with a time of 8:13.62. In the 800 Branan won the event in 1:58.78 breaking his own indoor school record. Also contributing to the win were Evan Ray who tied for 2nd in the high jump (5-11), Joey Bujdos 4th in the 800 (2:01.04), and Jameson Kutz was 7th in the triple jump (40-10.5).

The girls also brought home a pair of individual medals with Isabelle McCabe taking 8th in the 3000 meters (11:36.34) and Faith Hartle taking 8th place in the pole vault (9-2.5).

The team awaits word on qualifiers for next weekend’s State Indoor Championship at Penn State University.
