Indiana faced a powerful Shaler offense in their away matchup on
Thursday. Their opponents launched 24 shots on goal over the course of
the evening, landing 16.
Scoring for IHS was Allisyn Arotin (1). IHS ground ball leaders were
Fima Sissoko (4), Cameron Albert (2), Amelia Kuzneski (2), Olivia
Kuzneski (2), Cecilia Sherwood (2), and one each for Dydney Brice,
Chloe Hunter, Kennedi Kunkle, Aery REdd, and Gia Spadafora. Kunkle,
Amelia Kuzneski and Sissoko each caused turnovers.

IHS Girls Lacrosse visited Fox Chapel on Wednesday, playing a strong
and determined game, dominating on the draw controls but hurt by
turnovers.
In the first half, Fox Chapel put 12 points on the board to Indiana's

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Pine-Richland High School

IHS Girls Lacrosse hosted Pine Richland at Kuzneski field on Monday.
Opening the game, Indiana earned the first goal, then Richland began
to put points on the board - closing out the first half up by six
(4:10). Indiana opened the second half with three unanswered goals
and thereafter traded goals -- closing the gap to 4 points (10:14)
with eight minutes remaining.
Goalie Ella Spadafora had 9 saves and led the team with four ground
balls for the game, followed by Amelia Kuzneski (3 gbs), Allisyn
Arotin (2), and one each for Cameron Albert and Sydney Brice.
Scoring for Indiana were Gracie Agnello (3), Amelia Kuzneski (3), two
each for Sydney Brice, Kennedi Kunkle, and Gia Spadafora, and one for
Allisyn Arotin. Assists were earned by Adriana Borowski (3) and Avery
Redd (1).
Final score was 11:17.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Moon Area High School

Lose: 6 - 7
Varsity lacrosse took on Moon Area at home on Thursday. IHS got off to
a burning start, winning the first three draw controls and quickly
racking up goals and pulling ahead 5:2 at the half. In the second
half, Moon rallied and put 3 unanswered points on the board, Indiana
responded and tied up at 6:6. Moon brought it over the top and held
the lead in the remaining 5 minutes, with a final score of 6:7.
Scoring for Indiana were Gracie Agnello (2), Kennedi Kunkle (2), and
Amelia Kuzneski (2). Groundball leaders were Avery Redd (4), Amelia
Kuzneski (3), Sydney Brice (3), Allisyn Arotin (2), Cecilia Sherwood
(2), Ella Spadafora (2), and one each for Amy Arotin, Katie Conrad,
Kennedi Kunkle, and Lydia Lewis. Goalie Ella Spadafora had 10 saves
for the game.

IHS visited North Allegheny and endured a tough match
ending 7:20. Scoring for IHS were Adriana Guth-Borowski (3), Avery
Redd (2), and one each for Amelia Kuzneski and Fima Sissoko. Sydney
Brice led with 3 groundballs. Ceclia Sherwood led with 2 caused
turnovers.

Toe to Toe with Norwin
Indiana Girls Varsity Lacrosse fans enjoyed the most exciting game yet
for the 2019 season at Kuzneski field this Thursday. IHS battled
mightily against the Norwin Knights in a game that began much on a
different note altogether.
Norwin took the first two draws and scored rapidly in the initial
minutes, tallying a four-point lead before IHS scored. Then the teams
traded points and Indiana began to close the gap, finishing out the
half down two (4:6).
In the second half Norwin pushed to reclaim momentum and scored but
IHS maintained pressure, notable in the season high 7 Caused Turnovers
(including three by leader Sydney Brice). As the close of the second
half approached, Indiana was down by one point (11:12) when Allisyn
Arotin scored to tie the game with 9 seconds left in regular play. An
unusual overtime ensued (two, 3-minute running clock periods). Norwin
scored to pull ahead in the first OT. Indiana's Kennedi Kunkle scored
in the second OT to bring the teams to an even 13:13 but Norwin scored
again in the final 30 seconds to take the game 13:14.
In addition to season record CTs, IHS also snagged a season high 19
ground balls with credit to: Sydney Brice (5), Avery Redd (3), Ceci
Sherwood (2), Kunlke (2), and one each from Cameron Albert, Allysyn
Arotin, Amy Arotin, Olivia Kuzneski, Lydia Lewis, and Fima Sissoko.
IHS achieved the near victory with several starters unable to play,
and first-time goalie Chloe Hunter taking the net for the second half
and overtimes (9 saves; 52.9%)
Scoring for IHS were Allisyn Arotin (4), Kennedi Kunkle(4), Gia
Spadafora (4) and Avery Redd (1).
The game was dramatic and the younger and dual-rostered players are to
be commended for truly stepping up their level of play.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Shady Side Academy

Indiana Falls to Shadyside
Indiana girls HS lacrosse faced Shadyside on Thursday at home,
battling but coming up short. Indiana was held to a single goal in the
first half, with Shadyside netting 11. In the second half Indiana had
more offensive time and scored two more but was outmatched by
Shadyside, which allowed them only 9 shots on goal for the evening
while benefitting from 10 turn-overs, to end the game 3:18.
Scoring for Indiana were Allisyn Arotin (2) and Amelia Kuzneski (1).
Goalie Ella Spadafora had 10 saves. Indiana had eight ground-balls /
gained possessions, led by Cecilia Sherwood (3), Cameron Albert (2),
and one each for Adriana Guth-Borowski, Avery Redd, and Gia Spadafora.

Seneca Valley Dominates
IHS Girls Varsity Lacrosse took a hit from Seneca Valley on Monday
evening, trailing at the half 2:11 and closing out the night with a
6:17 loss.
Goalie Ella Spadafora had 13 saves. Ground ball leaders were Avery
Redd (4), Cameron Albert (3) and Syd Brice (3), followed by Gia
Spadafora (2), and one each for Gracie Agnello, Amy Arotin, Chloe
Hunter, Olivia Kuzneski, Ceci Sherwood, and Ella Spadafora.
Scoring for Indiana were Adriana Guth-Borowski (2), Kennedi Kunkle,
Amelia Kuzneski, Avery Redd, and Gia Spadafora.
Indiana had 16 turnovers while Seneca Valley earned 66% of the draws,
making for a game full of defensive work for Indiana.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Knoch High School

Win: 17 - 11
IHS took an early lead, closed the half 11:4 and wrapped up their
second win of the season with a final score of 17:11 away at Knoch on
Thursday.
Scoring for IHS were Amelia Kuzneski (6), Gracie Agnello (4), Kennedi
Kunkle (3), Adriana Guth-Borowski (2), and one each for Gia Spadafora
and and Avery Redd.
Guth-Borowski led with a remarkable 5 assists for the evening and
Kuzneski was 60% on the draw. Ground ball leader was goalie Ella
Spadafora with 5, in addition to her 14 saves for the night.
Other ground ball credit goes to Brice (2), Kuzneski(2) Lydia
Lewis(1), Redd (2), Fima Sissoko(1), Gia Spadafora (1), and Taylor
Weaver (1).

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. North Hills Senior High School

Lose: 7 - 13
Indiana Girls Varsity met tough competition in the visiting North
Hills, which scored twice quickly to open the game and gave the IHS
defenders a workout. IHS answered with seven attacks on goal and
netting three in the first half top trail North Hills 3:7. In the
second half, North Hills added 6 to the tally and Indiana netted 4
more to finish off 7:13.
Scoring for Indiana were Amelia Kuzneski (4), Gracie Agnello (2), and
Gia Spadafora (1).
IHS had 19 total ground balls, with leaders Grace Agnello, Sydney
Brice, Amelia Kuzneski and Lydia Lewis with 3 each, followed by
Cameron Albert, Adriana Guth-Borowski, Chloe Hunter, Kennedi Kunkle,
Avery Redd, and Cecilia Sherwood with 1 each. Brice and Sherwood led
the caused turnover effort with 2 each, followed by Redd and Fima
Sissoko. Goalie Ella Spadafora had 7 saves.
Indiana's shooting percentage for the game was 54% but their draw
percentage was only 25%. They had 15 turnovers.

Girls Varsity Lacrosse vs. Sewickley Academy

IHS Varsity Girls Lacrosse faced off against Sewickley Academy on Monday. The girls soldiered through a tough two halves, trailing 3: 14 at the half and putting 3 more on the board for a final score of 6:21.
Scoring for IHS were Gracie Agnello (3), Amelia Kuzneski (1), Allysin Arotin (1), and Olivia Kuzneski (1). Goalie Ella Spadafora had 9 saves for the day. Ground ball leaders were Kuzneski (2), Syndney Brice (2), and one each Sara Kane and Taylor Sheelsy.

Indiana Girls Lacrosse Heats Up Latrobe
Warming up slowly to a 4:4 standoff at the half, IHS Varsity turned on
the heat in the second half of its season opening game. With a
scrapping crew of middies gaining the majority of draw controls in the
second half, and a riled up defense who forced 12 turnovers, Indiana
went on to hold Latrobe scoreless in the half and finish the game
14:4.
Scoring for Indiana were: Fima Sissoko (3); Amelia Kuzneski (3);
Gracie Agnello (3); Sydney Brice (1); Kennedi Kunkle (1)
Allisyn Arotin (1); Taylor Weaver (1); Avery Redd (1).
Senior goalie and team co-captain Ella Spadafora had 4 saves.
Ground ball leaders were Amelia Kuzneski (5), Gracie Agnello (4),
Avery Redd (3), Cecilia Sherwood (2) and one each for Sydney Brice,
Allisyn Arotin, Taylor Weaver, Gia Spadafora, and Bella Garzarelli.
Cecilia Sherwood and Avery Redd each had 3 caused turnovers, Gia
Spadafora had (2), and Sissoko, Weaver, Kuzneski, and Brice each had
one.
